aftermarket remote start

Default aftermarket remote start

Has anyone had an aftermarket remote start installed on their 2000-2005 Monte? If so are there any Xtra parts needed like a bypass etc. or is this a simple install. I was thinking of going to Circuit City and getting one that they have advertised for $150 installed. Or any alarm shop. I was just wondering is this the price I am going to pay or does the Monte need Xtra parts for remote start to work.

It will need a bypass for the security system. I don't know wich one it will be right off hand but I do know you need it.

actually you done need a by pass i have one in y car and i diddnt have to get anyting extra

just make sure its not a crime stopper's unit they put in...they're junk

and their customer service sux @$$!!! sorry..bad day with them @ work today

Good question! I just recieved a remote start system for my '03 monte for christmas. It is the Valet remote start system. In addition, there was bypass module, that I think is necessary for a flawless install. So far, it works great, espeially when its like 2 degrees outside! If you go to the store and ask Im sur they will tell you tou need the bypass. For me, parts and install cost $200.

My 2000 MC SS had a Valet remote start system in it when I bought it used.It always worked fine.It had one feature I discovered by accident,if you started the car,and pressed the 2 buttons again to shut it off,it would restart by itself in 2 hours and run for 10 minutes.I found this out when the car fired up in the driveway by itself.(I didn't even have the keys with me,so I know I didn't do it)Someone told me it would do this every 2 hours to prevent the car from getting stone cold in freezing weather.In the 2000-2005 Monte Carlo the heated seat switches could be left on,so even the seats would be warm when you got in.On the 06 though,they turn off when the car is turned off.The 06 does have the auto heat/ac function though with the factory remote start.
