Default Proximity Sensor/ Push Start Project

im working on a bluetooth activated series of relays i want to use in my car that way when i have my phone on me the device will connect to my phone when i am within range of my car and switch the relays. i want to wire it to my door locks and also run a push to start system in my car and replace the original ignition with a push start button and move and it to the 12 volt outlet under the HVAC controls as a back up. im trying to do this the legit way because there are tons of push start buttons out there where you just wire the the button in with the ignition put the key in the ignition turn it to on and then press the button to start the car. this to me is the most redundant thing ever.

so... as far as ive looked into it in order to do this i need to know if the steering lock and the lock for the shifter are activated and deactivated electronically through the ignition or if there is actually a physical unlocking mechanism that is directly involved with the turning of the key in the ignition.

i understand this is a huge undertaking but im an electrical engineering major in college so these kinds of things are what ill be doing for the rest of my life so why not start now..

There is a physical mechanism that unlocks the steering wheel.

Actually, there is no steering column lock on the 2000-2005 Monte

The shifter interlock is electronic

You are going to have to handle PassLock bypass or the car will not start without seeing the key in the ignition cylinder

What are you going to use as a host for the BlueTooth?
What are you going to use to drive the relays?
Are you going to use BT discovery, BT pairing, or data over a BT profile to activate the relays?
What about security?

Leaving BT (and associated hardware) active in the car constantly will likely drain your battery after a day or so

I would suggest you spend ALOT of time thinking this out because it's not as cut and dry as you would think...
