Default Preferences on speakers/sound systems?

Hey guys, i just came into $250 of Car Stereo One gift cards, and thus am thinking about throwing in a couple hundred and upgrading my '01 SS's system.
So first off, is it worth it? It has the premiem factory system, but it is only the factory system.
And what would you guys recommend, company-wise? Im thinking that for the money im willing to spend, speakers will be the most reasonable upgrade to the system. Granted, im open to other suggestions, but im fairly ignorant in both cars and audio systems, so im not quite sure what makes what sound lol.

And if i do get Kenwoods, or Alpines, or Boston, will it make a noticeable difference than the premium factory system? Even without a new amp or woofer?

Ask 20 people and you'll get 20 different answers. None of us can tell you what will sound the best to you, you have to go and listen to as many different speakers as you can and see which you like the best.

Since you have the factory system I highly suggest you look for 2ohm speakers, unless you plan on upgrading and doing away with the factory amp in the near future. The problem you'll find is that most speakers the size you need are going to be 4ohm. The only issue with that is the factory amp won't put out as much power to them as it would if they were 2ohm due to the increased resistance.
