@Warhorse: Did you use a SECOND fuse/breaker BEFORE the CAP (in the trunk)? And how many inches is the CAP (cable) from the amp?

And, to anyone, NEVER EVER EVER run a POWER cable through your DOOR JAMB/HINGE(s) area(s).

And when at all possible, run the POWER cable directly off the/a battery.

Something else to keep in mind: For the overall best results, run both POSITIVE & GROUND cables from front to rear. Additionally, if good quality cable(s) & interconnects are being used, you CAN run BOTH cables & your RCAs & remote wire alongside each other with zero interference. Zero. I even have 2 sets of speaker cables, for door components, running with them up the PASS side in the El Camino, & will do the same in the 'Carlo ...

Not sure if he did or not, the CAP is about a foot from the amp? The amp is actually mounted to the back of the passenger side back seat, flip down to do any tuning, etc.

Why do you ask? The guy I bought them off put it in, I had no idea how to do it, always worked on 1960's and 1970's cars!! He does this kind of thing alot.

Dont forget to put the rubber piece back, I used a rubber mallet to tap it to get a good seal. I dont like running wires through doors, especially a power wire...
I tryed that but couldnt get that peace to move!

@Warhorse: Asking because for safety every power cable needs to have fused/break't protection at the beginning & end of the run ... & not just rely on the onbaord fuses/cuircutry of the amp(s) for overall protection if there is a short between the fuse under the hood, & the next component ... which in your case appears to be the CAP.

Ideally = BATT, then between 12"-18" to the FIRST fuse/breaker, then however long your run of cable, then right back into another fuse/breaker, before a distribution block, if you are running one. Then no more than another 12"-18" to the CAP, then 10" or LESS from the CAP directly to the AMP(s).
