Default OnStar Antenna Tape

I know I'm one of the few that wants to keep their OnStar antenna, I do use OnStar, but I need some help. I need to remount my antenna. I've seen a few posts I can't find now that say the antenna has been reattached with 3M tape. What type of 3M tape do I get? I know the posts have said to go to an auto shop but I don't want to get the wrong stuff. Thanks!

I had to replace mine, also. It's the gray stuff, trim tape. It is the exact thing that's on there now. Use some alcohol to clean the glass and antenna before you install the new tape, and DO NOT touch the tape with your fingers. Use tweezers if you have to.

Forgot to ask if it's easier to put the tape on glass or antenna base first.

Removed and reinstalled the antenna base today. I used the 3M trim tape 03609. It came off easy enough since it wasn't installed right. That flat piece of wire between the tape and base was a pain. I actually broke the wire but it was easy enough to fix. I cleaned the base and wire with acetone than with rubbing alcohol. Since the tape is only 1/2" wide I did in a few strips. I figured out not to put tape over the center of antenna over it won't mount right. Using tweezers was a great suggestion. So after the base was ready I lined it up and it stuck the window with little effort. It's on there pretty solid and I think I did a better job than the dealer did my digital upgrade. I didn't road test it but my OnStar worked with out the outside base on and when I mounted it. I'm going to wait a few days before I reattach the antenna to the base so to make sure it's on good and tight.

Thanks for the help everyone.
