Default Question about Onstar antenna

I have that little onstar antenna riding on the roof of my car and I hate it. Reminds me of Alfalfa's hair sticking up in the air. Ugh!
This may be a strange ?, but I saw a BMW the other day at the docs and it had a cover? over the antenna on the roof. It looked like a little shark fin. I liked it. I think something like that would look so much better on mine than the Alfalfa spike. I was wondering if there was some way that I could put something like that on my car and still have reception? Anyone know how I could find this out?

I've seen the shark fin thing you mentioned but I can't say where to buy one. Sorry.

Have you looked on ebay?

If you're not using the XM/Onstar antenna it can be removed. You need to drop the headliner enough to get to the nut that holds the antenna on.

I suspect this can be done by pulling the two plugs at the back of the headliner and loosening the two side panels on both sided of the car. A local upholstery shop guy wouldn't confirm my questions on this subject. Cause he wanted $200 to remove the antenna from our '03 Pace car.

Thanks RJ!

$200 to remove the antenna??? $200???? That's robbery in my book.

Hmm, drop the headliner? Not sure if I want to go messin with the headliner. That was 1 thing we didn't do when we restored the firebird. We looked at it and said forget it. The Dynamat and carpet were bad enough.

I don't like that light grey headliner that GM installed with the black interior. Design team fell down on that.

<sigh...move antenna to the back burner along with headliner replacement>
