Default oem radio with amps and subs.

So I'm trying to set this up but I need to know what to do about the RCAs. My friend says they are hidden in the case. I think thats bull crap. So is he right or can anyone point me to an adapter of some kind? I have a am/fm radio and cd player with the steering wheel controls with no onstar. Also is it ok to keep the stock amp hooked up? Im putting in 2 10s with 2 amps. one 300 and one 400. Thanks for the help.

You need a RCA converter for best play out, you can purchase one from best buy for about 15-20 bucks. Or if your amp has one w/ it you can use it. You basicly tap into your speaker system from your 6x9's in the back deck and plug your RCA's up with the converter. With the amp converter it plugs into the amp itself.

Your stock amp will be useless once you use your aftermarket one, you can keep it hooked up. Dont use two different amps for 2 10s, go buy one 800 for about 50 bucks from craiglist or better yet the store. It will save you on losing power from your car.

More amps = a stronger alternator OR two batteries for your car = stronger alternator.

Using one small 800 amp wont even tap into your cars power.

Trust me, sell those, buy one, use a kit from walmart, buy the converter, buy some speaker wire, tap into the system, and continue from there. Need anymore help feel free to pm me.

God. Please do not buy a wiring kit from Wal-Mart or a capacitor in any retail store. That wire they sell at Wal-Mart is an absolute joke. Cap's in any retailer will be very weak and you should opt to do a single battery in the trunk IMO. Just please, do not buy wire from Wal-Mart. Take it from someone who installed at Best Buy and saw tons of people bringing me that crap and coming back because it got hot, fried the fuse, other stuff.

Dom

What you need is a High-Low signal converter. They range from $30 or so on up. Steve Meade just released the only one I would use, but I am sure it's much more expensive.

You can get one for your purposes at Autozone, or yes, Walmart.

As far as second batteries and that, probably not needed for yours.

As far as the sub/amp situation, what you plan on doing will work but it's not best. You might actually be able to have a great system using 1 of your current amps. We'd have to know more to be sure though, what are the subs, are they the same, box, etc.

But you can use a High-Low signal converter, tap into your 6x9 signal just before the speaker and I believe you can find a remote and ground where the factory amp is. Leaving just a 12v run to make.

Its been done I think if you search around there is a thread on here about the converter.

Buying a second battery would cause him to upgrade his alternator, he doesnt need that for a 300-400 watt amp. And its hard to overheat those with the wiring kits from walmart unless your running something big. Hes running two tiny 10s, so all the added extra gauge, he doesnt need. And I bought my converter from best buy, i dont even use it at all, if you were close id give it to you lmao.
