Default Need help on how to wire an aftermarket stereo

I was wondering about my wiring in my car because when i hook up my aftermarket stereo to the wiring it doesnt work it only takes cd's and ejects them it doesnt show me any numbers or stations or light up or anything but it has power. So wut i was wondering is when i hook it up using the wiring adapter there is still two little wires that just hang there from the stock radio and i was thinking maybe that had something to do with it not turning on so i need help

it honestly sounds like you have a problem with your aftermarket stereo. if it has power to take and eject cds you have power to it for it to work. its not like they have seperate wires just for the cd player part or stereo part. they only have 2 power wires a constant and a switched. so my bet is on the deck itself taking a crap on you

No i cant be because ive tried two seperate stereos on it and they both did he same thing so idk i think its the extra plug in from the stock radio that has something to do with it

No sir, that has nothing to do with it. If your wiring remained the same and you've tried two different decks, it's something in your wiring. I have an aftermarket deck in my car and that black plug isn't connected and I never had this problem on any of the 3 decks I've had in it so far. The fact that the deck will take and eject cd's but not light up at all, and that both of the decks you've tried did the same thing, tells me it's a wiring issue.

Well, based on your inexperience, I'd take it to a shop, pay the $60 and let them install it.

did you use a chime harness? It sounds like you dont have the red ignition wire hooked up.
