NEED HELP with cords
Im installing a sound system into my 1996 monte carlo i have everything done but the power cord. I am having a very difficult time trying to find a place to run the power cord into the engine from the trunk. Im sure this topic has been beaten to death but i couldnt find anything that seemed to help, i hope someone can help me maybe with pictures or a video but i am in desperate need! thank you very much for your time!
I don't have pics or a video but:
From your engine compartment, Look for the rubber gramit were your throttle cable passes thru. On the drivers side of the car. You can follow your throttle cable back from your throttle body to the fire wall. This is where most people run their power wire thru. You may have to make the hole bigger depending on the Gage of wire you are using. (Should be 10 or 8 gauge.) Once you've found the gromit and run the wire into the car you can run it under the carpet to the back. Remember not to run your power wires and your speaker wires together or you could end up with a lot of alternator noise. Hope this helps
Good Luck, Safe Driving and Easy Listening!

Eh I wouldn't go 8awg-10awg, 4awg being the smallest I'd run for power, on a 96 I believe there is a spot on the driver side down under the right side of the break booster and on the inside it'd be to the left a little bit from the brake peddle, as JC mentioned dont run your power wire with your RCA's, If you are running a cheap amp kit with cheap unshielded RCA's you will experience feed back noises, if you are using a more top of the line kit (Monster, knu knocept...ect..) then you can run the RCA's with the power wire because they use good shielded RCA's which will block the small electro-magnetic field the current in the power wire creates
