Default Need all the help i need on '85 Monte!

Alright so heres the deal. 1985 Monte Carlo, not stock engine, blew it up, oil pan shredded, oil was everywhere. I have no idea what engine is in there i cant see the numbers yet.
what do you think is the best choice for me? Get a new engine? if so, what engine that best fits in the car with little mods to the car?
or should i buy a half build engine and use parts off the old one to make one new engine?
i need all of the nhelp i can get and any advice along with it. im trying to get 350hp if i can
Thanks again. this is my first post so sorry if i dont know how this works

I'd get a 350 c.i.

How is the shape of your Monte (besides blown engine)
What is your Budget for replacement ?
How is the rest of your running gear & engine component's ?

Do you know how to do the install yourself ? or are you going to have it done ? Do you have tools/knowledge ?

>Good Luck<

The car is in mint condition besides the gauges not working and the trunk not being able to stay up by itself. My budget really depends on what option i should go with because the price varies but im willing to spend as much as i can. everything in the car is running perfect its just the engine, besides the oil pan being shredded the valve rods are bent and popped out of places otherwise eveyrthing is good. i will see more as i take the engine apart more. and lastly i reallt dont but i will learn as i go im a hands on guy so its a do it myself project

I agree with BBMike..I would go with a 350 small block chevy. They are plentiful and you can usually pick one up locally fairly quickly and most of the time at a really good price.
BTW-Welcome to the forum!!

I love the classic 350's my 86 c10 had a 350 out of a 73 nova bored over and a mild cam backed up by a TH350 3speed,theyre good,strong running engines,fairly cheap,and easy to work with

Have you thought about putting a 5.3L GM in it. I heard it's pretty easy to get the computer running stand alone and you can pick them up cheap. They also have 310HP and up depending on which vehicle you sourced it from.

If it was the original motor...
More than likely it was a 305..(Worst motor GM ever made used IMO)

A 350 would make for a great replacement (will bolt right in)

Me personally...
I would try to find/use a 327 out of an older gen Corvette..(327/375hp)
But hey that's just me..

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress..
Added Pic/videos of the progress would be great also.

Thanks for joining the MCF Family.
Were here to help.

alright i am back from a while of saving up! i took the engine apart a little more which was a pain in the *** but hey it is what it is. turns out i totally destroyed my crank and at least one piston rod. i did some research and need thoughts on this specific engine from jegs which i got right here Chevrolet Performance 19244450, Chevrolet Performance 350ci/290HP Deluxe Engine | Chevrolet Performance

and i also a lot of questions for it:
i have a turbo350 tran in it, will it bolt straight to it?
will i need to get new headers for it?
literally need a list of everything i need to get it working.
can i use parts such as the carb, intake, fan, ect from the old engine?
should i get new fuel lines and cooling lines (rubber hoses)?
i probably have more questions but its 6 am and i didnt sleep yet so throw everyting you got at me!
