So yesterday I was driving my car like normal when I noticed that all of sudden my amp shutoff. So I went and took a look at it and it was in protect mode. So I shut my car off and turned it back on to reset the amp and this giant spark like shot across the amp and then it started to smell. Now my amp is shot but thank god for warranties. Before I send it back, I am going to open it and see what happen and I will take some pictures.

 

So i found out what happen with my amp, i didn't realized it but the positive and negative speaker wires were touching and that's what caused it to fail.

 

Oops, that'll do it.
A good amp should protect itself against shorts in the speaker wires, but if it happens again and again and again, it'll do damage.
Good thing its under warrantee.

 

Yeah it went into protect mode but i guess when ever i shut it off and turned it off that was when it finally went. Of course it was when i had the speakers out of the car too.

 

Is it not a fused amp?

 

Yeah it is, it was cheap though, I guess that's what I get for buying cheap. Right now I am using my old Alpine and it really is better then that one. Oh well live and learn I guess.
