Default MP3 Radios

OK, I know that the GM radio 10348717 supporting MP3s on CD from the '04-'05 Venture Van and Cavalier will fit and work on my '04 Monte Carlo without a problem and we don't loose ANY functions that the radio performs (hence why I love doing this vs an aftermarket solution).

My wife and I now have a '05 Impala that I want to put a factory MP3 unit into. I found the '04-'05 Aztec, Montana and SunFire have a MP3 radio part number 10348716. I know it looks different, but does anyone know if it fits, programs and supports all the functions performed by 10348717 (such as reset the oil life, tire pressure system and key fob settings)?

If so, I might be able to expand my radio search pattern. And since Pontiac illuminates there stuff in red, I might consider putting the Pontiac one in my Monte Carlo (as I am thinking of changing out some interior lighting for red, so it would match).

I assume the answer to my question is "yes, it will work", but I'd like to know if anyone has "been there, done that". Thanks!

I don't know if this will help or hurt, it doesn't answer your question, but it is a way to have MP3 and keep the stock radio if you are handy and not afraid to open a radio.

In my 1992 Trans Am I took a stock Pontiac radio with Cassette and added a MP3 jack, Click HERE to see my Cardomain page with pictures and a link to LS1tech where I originally found this could be done, on LS1tech they did it to a CD radio.

I totally understand the Stock Radio thing, all the lights in the TA were Red and all the aftermarket radios looked like Poop in my car.

Good Luck!

I've seen that idea before. The only MP3 player I own is 128Mb (it's OLD). The main reason I am sticking to "stock" is it's cheaper then going after market and retains all the programming functions through the radio. And the other reason, GM makes at least ONE stock radio that supports MP3 on CD that will work (as I have one now in the Monte).

But thanks for posting the jack info (that may be of benefit to some others on here).
