well have a cluster on the way, after looking on Autozone, the pressure switch is like $14 for the 3.8 and the pig tail harness is $34. so it looks like a simple swap and run a ground wire neatly to the block using wire loom. will let you know when I get it

Well that went just as plan!! I got the cluster this week. went out this morning to install it. it took longer to remove the dash trim than it did to install the cluster. after I got it in, I put the key in turned it on and all the gauges did their initial system check an then I started the car and let it warm up. all gauges are operational except for the oil pressure gauge. going to go to auto zone and purchase the sending unit and look around the junk yards for the pigtail, cannot see paying that price for it right now. but what a difference that SS cluster made! the speedo just pops out at you. I am totally happy with it and it makes the dash look way better.

Sounds great so far. Can't wait to hear results of the sensor and connector swap out. I have faith done right, the oil gauge will come to life

Bump... Wondering if there is an update to this thread? MidNight Rider, did you get a chance to try out the information I mentioned to see if it will make the oil gauge work??

have not had the chance to do it yet. been extremely busy for the past 3 weeks. it looks like I will not be able to get to it for another 2 weeks . I have the parts but that is something I want to take my time doing. I thought I would have time to do it when I did the exhaust but I am doing a balancing act right now with remodeling the master bath in our house and tinkering with the Monte. I was doing pretty good it until the daughter said she was coming in from Ohio Monday and said she is bringing her new boy friend . and staying a week!! so now that has put me full drive on getting the master bath fixed up and getting back to a 2 bath house. oh the little show stoppers of life

Hope you got this up and running...I just saw the thread and wanted to jump in and say it can be done. My monte's got the SS cluster in it, I didn't do the install (previous owner did) so I can't tell you all the details, but I know it works fine

hopefully I will know something this week. I was doing pretty good until last week when the pink slips rolled out. so things are going a little slow now. a friend owed me a few favors and in trade he picked up the sending until and pig tail that I needed to finish this job. with all the rain we had the past 4 days and the wife's summer car (T/A) in the garage I could not do it then. but with the sun out I will be able to take that horse out of the stable and bring in another one.
