Default How many CCA on a battery?

So I bought a new battery (against my will mind you) at autozone... they gave me a HYOOGE discount because I started crying in the parking lot... I am just so stressed out that I either need to get drunk, or just eat a megacrapton of ice cream. Or both. The old battery was one of those cheapazz duralast 700 CCA with the other amps being even lower somewhere around 400... and this one is now 1000CCA with 800 whatever... obviously an upgrade... Now she starts... but they couldn't do the alternator test becuz I got there late as it was, I had some rusty bolts that wd40 just would not undo (it took sheer manpower) I am going to go back for the alternator test in the morning... but I want to know...

WAS the 700 CCA battery ENOUGH (mind you I have an aftermarket JVC deck that best buy fudged up so I will be going DIRECTLY back to them) or is this 1000 CCA battery the trick?? The machine at autozone said that my car was only operating on 1.5 amps even though my diodes (?) looked good the girl said that battery still looks too small for this car she gave me a GREAT discount so I'm not bitching...tossed it in and she started no complaints.

cca or cold cranking amps is how many amps the battery can put out to start the car. it should have nothing to do with ur amp and such. 700 was plenty. if ur alternator is only puttin out 1.5 amps then u need a new alternator. the diodes that u have a question mark behind is to change the ac current that the alternator puts out to dc. have them test the alternator again with the new battery

Yeah I was thinking it was going to be the alternator AS WELL... I mean hell this car hasn't been driven in god knows how many years, something is BOUND to break down somewhere along the lines.... I just don't want to spend another 100$ on an alternator and then pay someone to put it in... when I have a paint job that needs done....

and if the alternator shows as fine, then what? was the battery just all kinds of messed up?
