hooking up amp to run 4 speakers
I have a 2000 monte with stock headunit. My amp is bad so I bypassed it. The front two door speakers were blown so I replaced them with some Kicker 6.5" 2-ways. The bypassed amp throws in some bad distortion and sounds like poop. I need some information on how I can run an aftermarket amp with my original head unit and wires to run those door speakers (probably the 6x9s later).
Looking around on the web, I need to turn the output of the head unit from speaker wire to RCA wire to become the input for the amp? I would need 2 sets that would control the front and back correct? Then I can use the speaker outputs on the amp to wire each door speaker individually. Can I run the speaker wires from the amp to go into the old connector that was on the original amp that was bypassed, That way I dont have to run new wires all the way up to the doors?
Let me know if I am even close.

They are under the dash, remove the black kick panels and you will see the back of the speakers on each side.
Sounds like you want to do a lot of work and still keep the factory unit. I would personally put in a new head unit and skip the amps. A lot less work you will have a nicer system in your car, and nowadays a good head unit will run your 6 speakers just fine and be plenty loud, then put a subwoofer box in the trunk and put an amp in to that. You honestly shouldn't need a very powerful amp to run the factory speakers.
But if you want to do that then yes, the speaker wires from the amp will connect in to the amps one for front and one for rear, and then depending on where you are placing the amps will depend on how much speaker wire you will have to run in the car. Most people put the amps in the trunk so that would mean running wires from your front speakers back to the amp and then back to your connector to run back in to the factory wiring. Or find a nice safe place under the dash, or front seats (I don't like under front seats, too much water from shoes, and possible spilled drinks) to mount the amps, as you will want them out of harms way when exposed to people (some people just can't not touch things lol)
