it would depend where you are, it takes a good 10 seconds before they really warm up, but you're gong to have next to no light most of that time so do it when you know whats ahead of you of course and i woudln't recommend wiring it for both because you're just pissing everyone off at that point

I have 6k HID's in high and low and I must admit it is a little scary in the pitch black when you turn on your highs for the first time. almost pure darkness. I think wiring your headlights so when you switch to your highs the lows stay on too is a great idea. Not only would it be brighter but it would be safer. Shouldnt bother other drivers since you have to switch to low anyways for oncoming traffic. How is this achieved? relays, rewiring, etc?

im surprised the 6th gen low beams dont stay on when the his are one. mine does. hid hi beams i think are unnecessary. summit and jegs used to sell a relay kit to make your lows stay on with the hi beams on for trucks. i dont think you need relay kit though. my brother did it on my 80 with out one. im sure its just simple wiring job.

youd have to know what your doing, so not much simple about that. but i'm sure it can be done :\ if anyones finds it, let me know.

ive been thinking about getting a retrofit done. idk though, only 150$ about for a set fo new lamps than i can just retro those and sell off my old ones.

My hids will be here in a few days, so I should have a way for the highs/lows to come on with eachother soon after that.

it would really help because the range on the low beams is pretty weak, if you added them together, they would be amazing.

It's not too bad... here's the correct way to do it

There's many threads on NAIOA about it, but here is the one I wrote for this mod (you must be registered and logged in to see it)
