I have never used my high beams since I got my hid s. I wouldn't waste my time. Just do your fogs and call it good. Plus they take a few seconds to come on fully so i don't think switching back and forth wouldn't work that well

IIRC using HID in the high beam is not recommended because they double as DRL. The DRL operate at 1/2 voltage which will not excite the ballast for the HID.

in a stock housing, even 10000k will be a large improvement over stock.

I would reaaaaaallly like to make my highs HIDs too because the stock yellow versus the lows looks ridiculous. I hope a member can tell us if the same kelvinin th highs would be brighter than the lows on high beams and still a similar hue on DRL.
I can't decide whether to go with the 55 watt or if the 35 watt will be sufficient. As everyone else, I don't want to get highlighted by too many drivers because my lows are bright. It could be an aiming thing too. Do you know if there are ANY projector lenses for the 5th gens? Because that would be the best! But I haven't had any luck finding any.

I was thinking of going with the same temp Kelvin as my lows because I THINK the difference from the highs to lows is the angle the lights are projected at. If anyone had any experience or expertise on this it would really help. I didn't convert my highs on my other vehicle, and my lows ended up being brighter than my highs, so yeah. Definitely going to do both when I do it because I do a lot of driving on country roads and rely on the visibility.

Also, what's the difference between the DDM Raptor full size kit and the DDM slim kit other than size? Do they cause any less radio interference or operate at a lower temperature?

I think 35w are plenty bright enough. I think if you go 55 w you'll need to add the additional harness and you will get flashed by people thinking you have your high beams on. I'm also not sure if the drls will work if you add hid s to the high beams. I never did my brights because my lows are bright enough anywhere I go. Even the darkest country roads are like daylight. I have 35w 6000k

I hate those! They just shut off their brights right when they get to you! Pisses me off...

I hadn't taken the DRLs into account. I know on some vehicles there's a separate fuse for them or a means of disabling or avoiding them. Does anyone know if such a thing exists on the Monte?

Yes, the DRLs can be disabled, and there's some info on the forum here that will explain it to you.

The Raptor kit is simply cheaper than the Slim kit and is obviously not as thin. It's not that big of a deal. Just go with the Raptor because it's cheaper.

I did a little searching myself and found that on the '00 and up MCs that pulling the fuse will trigger the SES light. But I haven't read anything about that happening on the 5th gens. Anyone have any insight?
