yeah back the engine light being on it turned off but then days later it turned back on and now its off again what could this be if it was something wrong with the engine or anything else the light would stay on the whole time right .its a super sport 2002

 

The light will stay on until you complete a "drive cycle".Once the drive cycle is complete, and all the systems check ok the light will go out by itself..If it threw a code it will still be in the computer to read with a code reader.If the car is running fine. The 2 main things that throw codes or check engine lights are 1: Routine service triggered by milage . Or 2: A lose or bad gas cap! When its cold, some people like to leave the car running , when they are filling up at the gas station.If the cap is off , lose, or bad, while the engine is running , this will turn the light on.

 

thanks i wanted to just make sure that it wasnt nothign serious cuz i dont hear anything wrong with the rngine and id just change the oil a month ago so i think it was that maybe theres some kind of melfucntion with it .oh yeah and one time i put 87 cuz i was being cheap and then the light went on but once i put bacl plus maybe about 100 miles later it turned off
