The plastic trim that's about an inch or so wide around the unit is held on by three clips on each side. I used a putty knife and popped the clips out starting at the top corners and working down, after that you're only facing a few screws. Note: You will have to bring the climate controls out at the same time as the headunit doesn't like to come out without them.\
Oh, and you shouldn't have to pry hard enough to crack the trim, if you feel like it's about to snap reposition whatever you're using to pry and try again.
