Default factory stereo

I posted previously about my right front speaker coming and going. Now I have a new wrinkle. Driving home yesterday I put in a cd, track 1 comes up, then the time counter, then ck cd. I tried several cd's and got the same thing. I finally got a cd to play, went back to the radio and nothing. All the display functions work, but no sound. Anyone got any idea what to look for? I thought about having a complete aftermarket stereo and ampinstalled, but as this car is one of only 1300 built I want to keep it as original as possible.

Since you own a rare Monte Carlo, I would suggestremoving the factory radio (Have it rebuilt & store),and search for an aftermaket radio with the featuresand sounds that you want.If you decide to sell your Monte Carlo, you will havethe orignal factory radio to re-install or give to the new owner.Just my $2 dollar opinion (inflation: )Good Luck,`Space

01 Pace, Click below link for more infor.
or do a MCF search engine.
I know that many member's have done this and there's an adaptor
that hook's everything up.
Or go to your local Stereo/Auto Shop & get an estimate.
They should know what you need. Or, go to Google's Search
engine for many radio links with infor.
Or,
Wait for a member to post that has done this.
Good Luck, Space

Now I'm wondering if it's an antenna issue. AM is playing fine, no FM. Does anyone have an pics or directions to get to the antenna/stereo connection?

Tire pressure and oil life monitors can be reset without the factory radio, See your owners manual for instructions how. But that is one reason why my factory radio is in my trunk, as was my '01 SS LE. Aftermarket stereo sounds WAY better than the factory, but I agree, DON'T get rid of the factory radio, have it rebuilt (if needed) and save it for the new owner (someday, maybe).

X2. Keep the factory stereo no matter what. You'll want it if you want to trade or sell your Monte in the future.
