Default engine whine

hello forks...

so recently i have been gettin engine whine from my driver side front speaker...everytime ive ever found speaker whine it has been from a wire grounding but i cannot find the ground. i have tried a different speaker and still get the engine noise. Does anyone know of anything else that causes engine whine besides the wiring and the speaker....i suppose it could b the head unit but i sure hope not...any ideas anyone?

Default RE: engine whine

realized its a lil vague so ill post up exactly what i did

i have recently been hearing the whine of the engine thru my drivers side door speaker. In my experience it has always been caused by a grounded wire. But jsut to b safe i plugged another speaker in and got the engine whine with the new speaker. So in my attempt to find the grounded wire i cut the wires that run from the amp to the speaker...and ran a new wire outside the car to determine if the ground was before or after the stock amp. the whine still existed so i went to the wires that went from the radio to the stock amp...to determine if there was ground between the stock amp and the radio i cut the wires at the amp and disconnected the radio. then i took my dmm and set it to ohms. next i connected one wire to a ground and the other to each of the wires...both read OL which means out over limits so there is no continuity between the wires and the ground which leads me to believe that there is no grounded wire. What else could cause the engine whine? any ideas are welcome

Now are you sure you are hearing the sound coming from the speaker? Could it be coming from the engine compartment and sounding like its coming from the speaker?

normally no i do not crank my music...but no worries i figured it out. it was in the connector at the stock amp. Im not sure if i sumhow bumped it when i put sumtin in the trunk or if it just randomly happened but on of the pins in the connector had come loose. idk what happened but it took a long time for me to find it. thanx again for your help
