Default Electrical monitoring via elm327 remote start vpw msg ls4 SS

Hi everyone not sure of this is the correct spot to post this? I’m liking for anyone with a elm327 that I can walk through scanning the class 2 vpw messages on a car with remote start. From a 2006 to 2008 Monte Carlo SS. Or the v6 if it came with factory remote start?

I’m hoping to collect some data of a successful remote start.

monitoring can be done easy with putty terminal and elm327.

I have a Colorado I want I add remote start to and it uses a simulator OS in the pcm, as the ls4 does.

thanks

Jamie

I am familiar with the data you want to gather (I used an ELM327 to figure out commands between my radio and XM receiver with the help of a terminal program and Excel). Unfortunately, I don't have access to a 06/07 Monte to play with to gather that data.

Thanks, can you enlighten me on excel, I see I really great filter setup on gmtnation. But I don’t know how to use it. Currently just using note pad to sift through the messages

Excel (or other spreadsheet programs) are great to hunt through the data. Your output has to be something you can import into excel. I admit, I use Excel for a variety of simple things at work, and it was a google search that landed me on a page where a guy documented using it with output from the elm327 (I probably would have thought of it myself, but this just saved me time). As a result, I now have a spreadsheet of all the commands the radio sends to the XM receiver when you push buttons on the radio. I also have commands to change the message on the display (something the XM receiver sends back to the radio). So pretty neat stuff.
