Driver Information Centers
So, my wife's Impala and my Monte did not come with the DIC option like many. Thanks to info from BBEngineer and a trip to the junk yard (last year) and finally some time today, my brother in law and I installed Driver Information Centers into both cars!
BBEngineer outlined a process of making a T-harness and that was easy to do! Install did NOT require dropping the headliner.
Here's the info from BBEngineer:
Impala DIC Retrofit
When I did this, I used his template but cut a little short on purpose (so I could trim as needed vs making too big a hole).
My brother in law Matt was a huge help AND he was Johnny-on-the-spot taking progress pics.

Thanks Mike.
It's nice to have this little feature in these cars. Gives the monte and the wife's impala a better feel (especially the imp since it's a base model car).
My brother in law and I raised an interesting question:
Does adding a factory feature not originally included with the car (like the DIC) count as a mod?
We both feel it does since it was not original to the car.

Oh now let's please not stir up the "what is/isn't a mod" controversy again, lol. So what was the small switch that was there to begin with?
The definition of modification is changing something so I guess it qualifies! I think most of us here would agree except for ONE member, lol!

I've never seen any monte with just that one switch for the sunroof haha I though they all either had the DIC or that ugly cubby in place of the DIC :P
