Default Double din problems.

I have a 2005 monte carlo, and wanted to install a double din kenwood ddx719 myself.
I need to know what I'll need to do so, what kind of wiring harness? What kind of installation kit?
If anyone knows anything about this please let me know.
Thank you.

You might look at the thread below and use the search feature. It depends if you have Onstar and volume controls on your steering wheel. You can go to Best Buy or a stereo shop and they will tell you what you need.

go to bestbuy show them your car and say i wanna put a deck in this give me a kitt and a harness. you'll also need an antena adapter because the monte carlos dont use the standard connecotr its much smaller. your gonna spend roughly 140$ its gonna suck, but your gonna do it, or you can find the harnesses on ebay ocasonly for 50$ but ive never used one so idk. i do need a new one my self accualy which sucks.

I can provide you with the details to save you a lot of money on the harness. Everyone believes you need the $100+ harness but you can buy a $20 harness (metra 70-2003) and run your own accy wire to the fuse box and save a lot of money - though you will lose door chimes...if you want to keep steering wheel controls, I would recommend metras aswc harness but you will have to partially hardwire it - cake sauce. This can save you some money if you want to keep the extra cash. If you have a factory amp things will be different though. LMK if you wanna go this route.

Have you done the install yet? I'm curious because I'd like to put the same model in my 2000 SS, and I have the steering wheel controls.

I'll keep watching...

You'll need an extra harness for the steering wheel buttons.
