Default A/C Extrema Broken

'02 Monte Carlo LS stock here. I've been living with the 1-5 Fan control only working between 2-4 for a while now, but the refrigerant is in need of a recharge, and I can't do that unless I can max out the fan.

To put it another way, I can only feel air blowing in levels 2, 3, 4. The fan turns off completely at level 1 and 5. The A/C light is still on, and I can feel the residual air from whatever temp I set it at, so at least that works fine.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

both of my 01 montes was doing that exact same thing i changed my a/c blower motor and the problem was solved thats a sign that the blower motor is beginning to go out this is common on a lot of GM cars a 97 Grand Prix GT i had last year also had this problem also my cousins 99 buick century had the same problem so try changing the a/c blower motor first then work from there
