Best sub placement

yeah i had them towards the trunk and it sounded good with a bandpass box but once i switched the box and subs to regular enclosure i turned it around. It sounds good but not like it used to. And i do the one seat down trick to to make it louder. IT WORKS!! haha i need a new amp though my amp is underpowering my subs. 800w subs (2) and a 350w amp.

Yeah, always should be towards the back except when you have a bandpass, then that should be facing upwards (usually) there are exceptions to all the different ways to positions. And then agian, alot of it has to do with your sound preferance.
Im sure 04monteLS will jump in somtime and give you his know-how>> He'll clear this up real good.

you'll get bigger lower bass if you face them towards the deck lid.
a lot of members face them towards the back seat if they have enclosers that showoff the subs. then they will cut a hole wear the rear armrest is. this allows them to easily get sound or hide it away when neccisary.
you almost have to cut a hole or leave a seat down when you face them forward. all the bass will reflect off the seat and stay in the trunk.

If you have a ported box, it usually sounds better firing towards the back. If you have a sealed box, firing forward is usually best. But, you can have a ported box firing towards the front too and it'll sound lovely if you go through the pain of sealing off the baffle from the rest of the trunk, including sealing off the rear deck. If you don't seal it off like that it'll suffer horribly from cancellation.
But like always, the end all be all should be how it sounds to you. Try your box in different positions until you find the one that suits you the best.
