Hi, my girlfriend and I just bought a 2000 Monte Carlo SS yesterday. I must say it is a fine automobile!
I bought a Cobra 25 LTD Classic CB
I wanted to put in her, but there isn't a lot of room under the dash. I was thinking of maybe mounting it up on the ceiling in front of the sunroof like on a truck, but didn't want to go drilling holes in the headliner if there's any better suggestions.
Also haven't bought an antenna yet, wasn't quite sure what route to go, as the radio antenna is in the back window, or I'd have bought a combination am/fm/cb disguise one. A magnet one is going to scratch the paint up, so maybe trunk lip mount?
The radio measures 2.25” H x 6.25” W x 9” L and is beefed up for better transmission.

I used to have CB radios back in the day when I drove some truck. Also had them in a Car or 2. I thought about it once in the Car but I was looking at mounting it at the side of the console on the passenger side. They used to make a portable mount for them and you could switch from vehicle to vehicle. Worked really well.
Hey thanks, good idea mounting the radio on the console on the passenger side! Even using the original mounting bracket it should work good like that. Seems to be all plasic there, I'll have to put some big flat washers on the back.
Talked to the guy who sold me the radio, he says it'll work real good with a Wilson lil wil antenna
@Barovelli - I never knew you installed a Ham Radio in your Monte. I love the right up you have on your site. Great strides to make a nice and clean install, very well done. I loved the use of the business car holder!!! That was so simple and yet brilliant! I was looking for ideas to mount my Scangauge II in that same general location. Currently, I settled with using a suction cup mount to the windshield. I might mimic that idea in the future!
@The_Maniac - Later on i pulled off the overhead and bolted the card holder to it. I even duplicated the whole thing in the Subaru Cloutback.
I don't think I ever did a picture story on the CB Radio in the MC - it was one of those One hander type import radios by Stryker. Controls all in the fat mic, and the radio box was in the hidden dope stash - pull straight up on the cup holders (7th gen only) and set it in the cavity. Antenna was a mag mount.

Greetings. I bought my 2001 Monte LS in June. I'm an old school Ham radio user and a former CDL truck driver so I love having CB's in my vehicles. I bought a small Cobra CB for my Monte that fit perfectly under the dash to the right of the steering wheel right above where your right knee is. It works well. Your CB looks a bit wider than the one I got thoigh but you could check to see if it fits there anyway. I mounted the Mic right above the CB next to the ignition. It worked out really well. Granted the Mic wire hangs by my leg which is a bit annoying and dangerous but I solved it by running the Mic wire around the gear shift. Keeps it away from my leg.
