I have a 1999 Monte SS, I put in an aftermarket radio/CD/Ipod controler in my car. I bought the correct harness etc, and everything works as it should, but periodically it "resets" or something and I lose all my memory to my stations, clock, etc and have to reset them. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

 

Since your description sounds like it is and intermitant condition with the radio, I would suspect the radio as the source of the problem. I assume the battery has never drained out on the car (as if it did, something is causing a parasitic drain and a drained battery could explain cleared out settings).

 

No the battery never drained, so I thought that the radio may be the probem too. I bought a demo model from the "Circuit City" going out of business sale a year or so ago so maybe that's the problem. Thanks!

 

I would check you wiring 1 more time it sounds like it is the main power wire (12 v constant wire) has a loose connection start at the back of the deck and work your way back from there it may not hurt to just replace the but connector(on the wiring harness where the aftermarket wiring meets your factory wiring) for that 1 wire just to make sure it is something you cant see from the outside.
yes it does happen time from time when you or some else puts a aftermarket deck in

 

Sounds like your factory warranty may be up on the radio. That stinks...

I bought a demo model radio. Worked great for about 4-5 years (was in 2-3 different cars). Only issue was the skip/rewind buttons had to be pushed more then once to move tracks on the CD. Other then that, great and then stolen later on....

 

You should have one wire going straight to the battery, you 12v memory/continuous power and another to your 12v ignition (Power). Some connect the 12v cont to a continuous source at the fuse block, but I recommend going straight to the battery(with an inline fuse of course).

 

I have a stock radio for a 6th gen monte, but a 99 is a 5th gen i think idk if that helps you :\

 

I've had this problem before, turns out the red and yellow wires were crossed.
