Default Adding XM satellite radio

Hey guys. I recently became the owner of a 2003 Monte Carlo and had some questions regarding its audio system. My monte has the AM/FM Stereo w/ CD and premium sound with auxiliary amplifier and 6 speakers. However, the car was not equipped with XM satellite radio (although it was a factory option). Hence my question, is it possible to add XM to the existing system whilst leaving the exterior view of the system stock? Thanks for any and all advice/comments in this matter.

Ive thought od this too. I think you would have to buy a stock system that is xm ready, then wire in an XM antenna

i think it be cheaper to buy an aftermarket system from XM, to do it you would have to dismantle most of the passenger side of ur interior, buy the antenna, wire, the control box that gets mounted in the trunk, & possibly a diff radio if XM isnt already on it, its not cost effective to do, u can pick up a good XM unit from best buy for less

I THINK the radioi ready for it, but I can't say for sure. The XM tuner sits in the trunk on the rear of the right rear wheel well, under the carpet. The antenna is the problem. The XM antenna runs up the C-pillar and into the roof, where there is a hole, and the antenna sits on the roof. '05 and later includes the Onstar in the "shark fin" antenna. The problem is the factory antenna connector is different than a Pioneer's. Not sure about the other brands. The antenna is compatable, just not the connector.

The XM tuner should be easy to find. I have an '04 tuner tucked away somewhere.
