Default Adding a Pioneer

Hello, I had just bought the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT BLUETOOTH USB CD DVD DOUBLE DIN deck for my Monte. That being said I don't care if my car chimes or not so I don't need that extra module do I? Also, I am going to add a small aftermarket Pioneer Amp for a LITTLE extra Bass nothing extreme, just a Lil tiny Kick in the A**. I am Also replacing ALL of the factory speakers, so my next question was, I should just unhook the factory amp and remove it from the car, right? or is this amp good enough for a extra bump just from the head unit (it has SUB out amp built in) I am new to all the new audio gear, I was great installing the old ones from the 80s...lol But haven't put in a unit for 20 years. So I am saying I know just enough to get in to trouble, should I just take it to someone that KNOWS how to do it, or is it something that a somewhat knowledgeable guy can do?... thanks, Michael...

Nice looking head unit...your sure to enjoy the new advances in performance.

I do think you can and should use your factory amp. Always nice to have the juice when you need it. As far as the Module, it's a must IMO. Nice to be able to go to your familiar steering wheel controls when driving around in traffic. Volume, change tracks, mute etc.
The chimes are more of a mental signal that the doors are locked etc. But I love having my steering wheel controls.

I really like your head unit though. Just put a Pioneer in mine, but it's about 2.5 year old technology and I'm not so keen on it, might dump it for an upgraded more advanced unit. Let us know how you like yours...

Zyppyr, have you check to.see if your unit can be upgraded through software updates? I have a pioneer unit which was upgraded that way.

Mjclamm, the own amp in.our cars will disappoint you. Barely enough power to drive aftermarket speakers.

for extra bass you will either need new 6x9s or a sub.

I would recommend a wiring harness.. you may be disappointed without one.

If you need any help let me know, I can come down for a day and help you out.

Ya You will still need to use the harness adapter but I know if you use aftermarket amps I know you can do away with the chimes.. Mine doesn't chime anymore and I love every minute of it.

Nice Headunit

Default Wire Harness

Hello and thanks guys, I just bought the wire harness, the mounting kit, and the antenna adapter.
Now as for the wire harness for the steering wheel, there IS a separate harness / module for the steering wheel controls, PLUS a wire harness for the chimes. ALL together their are 4 that I know of, 1 for the steering wheel controls, 1 for the "CHIMES" , 1 for the brake bypass (for the DVD) and 1 for the radio hookup. I have the radio hook up right now and the brake bypass. i AM BUYING the steering wheel control harness ($39) but the CHIME harness I am NOT gonna buy ($99) Thats the one for the CHIMES and ON-STAR ONLY, Not the steering wheel. I agree with all of you about the steering controls, them are cool, but I don't like the "chimes" NOW and don't use On-star so I feel no need to put it in even if it was free. I am installing a camera, why..... Have NO CLUE and will just have it to say its there..lol.....I was going to put the GPS into it, but I have GPS in the car now, but can install it anytime I want, just plug it in... I also have the Ipod wire (don't need it with this deck, but will use it as a AUX. It has Built in BLUE TOOTH for my Itouch as well as my Cell phones. I am also considering having Best Buy install it. I found out thru my son (he works there) that I might be able to get the deck installed for about $25-30 dollars (its Normally about $50-60 but he gets 50% off with employee discount) IF thats the fact, hell for $25 Ill have them do it just for the sake of not having the headache of doing it (as I am not very able to sit in the car like that and maneuver in different poses because of my back and legs) Would you guys pay $25 if you were me, or try it? And BTW, I thank you "trewyn15" for the offer to help me out, that is a kind gesture on your part and I thank you, I may end up taking you up on that for something... thanks man.... I will add up ALL of you guys advice, put in the "COMPUTER" and see what adds up and makes the most sense. I cant wait to use it also.... BTW, I bought a 2 channel Pioneer amp, 1200 watts to drive 2 Sony Explod woofers for a tad more bottom end and I am replacing ALL the other speakers as well, new door speakers, as well as 6x9s in the rear. After its done, or if Best Buy does it, I will have them add the Tweeters (separates sound better) and have the door speakers as Midrange...... I don't need the car to SHAKE, Rattle and Roll, I am a musician (drummer and Guitarist) and a MUSIC LOVER, NOT BOOOOOM BOOOOM rattle tat tat stuff, I love Good SOUND ! I know what a bass drum sounds like, and I hear all these car's shaking the roof off and thats NOT how a Bass drum sounds at ALL nor a Bass guitar as I OWN ALL of them, I have a 7 piece DW Drum-kit and 45 guitars. I think I'm a tad bit qualified to what sounds good and whats , well.... just LOUD, LOUD does NOT mean good ~~~~~ thanks a ton guys, I think I wrote so much because of my meds........Ill let ya know how it turns out or if I need help .... ty...MJC

wall of text hits walkingonabullet for 100k hp and he dies*

that aside, please get everything you need, do not cut corners, you'll regret it later, just because its a feature you dont care about doesnt mean its a feature the BCM doesnt care about, it ca cause issues, none that i know of but GM's computers are pretty fickle, i woudlnt taunt it like that by skipping a step.

you dont need to buy a bypass modual, save the 30$ and just use a relay to do the bypass, if you need help doing it, you can follow it up on youtube.

Personally I haven't finished my system yet because I don't have everything that I want or need. I am getting everything and I do mean everything I need and want before touching the cars current system. I agree get the harness even if you don't want the chimes. Bite the bullet when you can and get the over priced harnesses you need to keep the car happy.

I have the old Scoche radio relocation kit for the 6th gen Monte. But I don't have the wiring diagram so I have a feeling I am going to have to bite the bullet too and spend the $100 for the new styled harness. I would love to find the diagram so I can relocate the stock radio to the trunk but hey win some you lose some.
