People don't like to follow the law. When you have a HID inside a non-projector they scatter the beam everywhere, blinding any one that is coming towards you. A real HID is supposed to be channeled into a beam from a projector with a cut-off line so it doesn't blind anyone.

It's illegal, you just seem to have cops that aren't caring

does painting the inside black help when using HID? I just got my 1997 monte carlo and want to put my morimoto projectors in but not sure with the lens not being clear. when I bought the car the previous owner bought brand new headlights they are shiny and new but have the lines on the lens...not clear.

No that doesn't help, you need a projector that projects the beam properly, putting a HID in a regular halogen housing just causes the beam to completely scatter all over the place.

I have a set morimoto mini. But wasnt sure about putting them in cause the headlight lens not being crystal clear. Mine are brand new just out of the box but they are oem lumina/monte carlo headlights. Would it be dumb to put my morimoto projectors in the stock housing? Im coming from driving a honda accord coupe. And was running them in my headlights with my accord. I know how to retrofit them just wasnt sure about the headlight lens. Any input on the subject i appreciate. Thanks

I'm pretty sure putting a projector behind a frosted lens defeats the purpose of both the projector and the frosted lens.

If you want to do a retrofit, get a set of clear housings that are made for this car. They make a great base for the morimoto minis

They're actually slightly different, Lumina's seem to be a bit more clear and seem like they would have more light output.

looks great Justin. Ive searched the web and found the clear headlights lens for the car. Just didn't want to spend any $ since I have these brand new (frosted or whatever headlights) also further checking on the clear lens ive seen quite a few retros and most all of them do not fit the entire space for the headlight, kind of don't want that look.
