I installed 6.5 infinity reference components in the stock housing and put the tweet in the stock hole and everything fit perfect. the stock speaker that was in there was round and I even used the old screws for the new spkr.

Oh really? Got any pics and care to share a how to? I'm definitely interested as I am about to install my system, I just gotta get a factory harness and i'm ready to go. Building the amp rack at the moment. I'm putting in some CDT Audio components up front for now but anything I could do to beef up the front stage would be nice since i'm not going to be running any rear fill.

The stock amp can't push much of anything since it only puts out maybe 25 watts rms per channel. I only have about 300 watts rms going to my subs right now and they easily overpower my mids/highs that are aftermarket but running off the factory amp.

Where did you get the information regarding the 25 watts RMS for the factory amp?

Ill try to get some pics this weekend if I can. I made a baffle out of 1/2" mdf. If its any thicker it is too thick for the door panel to go back on. It took me about 3 trys on the drivers side to get the speaker placement just right as it has to be in just the right place for the basket to clear the factory hole. But once you have one side made just make another identical for the other side. The dls nobeliums will fit without any cutting. Not sure about other drivers. The basket on the nobeliums curve in instead of coming down straight.

Aw man, I found out so long ago that I don't remember. I just know that it puts out 200 watts max, which is 100 watts rms, which is 25 watts rms when divided by 4 channels. And that's if the amp is 100% efficient, which we all know it's not.

Interesting. Any idea what a factory head unit typically puts out? 200 watts max amped just seems REALLY low to me, especially given aftermarket head units can pump that out without an external amplifier.

Most aftermarket headunits say 50x4 but that is peak output. Most are actually only putting out 12 watts per channel rms and even then it is pretty distorted.

Have you listened to the factory system in a Monte? You think that sounds like more than 200 watts of power? I don't, I think it sounds like about the same power you could expect from an aftermarket deck, but without the increased SQ.

I think it's closer to 20-25 watts per channel rms, but your point is made and very true. Except for the distortion part, but I guess that could be true if you get a little carried away with the volume ****.
