Default 12" subs in a 2002 with RDS radio

Is there any way to hook up a pair of 12" subs to the factory sound system? Perhaps an output jack or something on the amp? Will I need a crossover? I love my RDS radio with the wheel controls, AVOL, etc. & do not want to lose my security features, passlock, theftcode, etc. but I would like a little more "bump in the trunk"

use a line out converter.

It will turn the speaker wire to RCA, run the RCA to the amp, then you just have to hook up the amp.

Best buy sells those.

line out converter | eBay

Here's the first link that comes up when using the search function.

Thanks for the info, I followed instructions on the link posted, it was easy to do! I added a "hubbell connector" to the 3 wires at the amp, so it is a quick disconnect. Simply twist & pull, and you are able to remove the box from the trunk for cleaning, etc. The 12's hit just right, & I can control the level simply by adjusting the front to rear fader control
