Default 04 radio has power but no sound

04 monte with oem radio and CD player. Has oem amp between rear speakers in trunk.

Wife said she was driving down the road and it all just went quite. The radio lights and power is on and the cd works taken cd in and out. Only problem no sound whatsever with radio or cd.

Checked for loose connections and couldnt find any loose. Checked radio fuse.

Also just noticed something. No chime when door is open with keys left in the ignition. Ask wife and neither of remember the chime or not.

Even bought a suppose to be good used amp and put in with no luck (not sure is used amp was good or not even though sold as good working order).
amp 02-05 #10449234 matsu****a

I'm at a loss right now. Ideas?

Since I cant figure it out.

Putting in a aftermarket system with built in amp cd/radio/mp3. What all problems do I need to look at to bypass this oem system.

1. You will need an amp bypass for sure. I have one but it is only for the 2000-2002 model years.

2. You will also need a chime harness.

3. And as an option, you will need the "steering wheel control harness" which allows you to still use your steering wheel buttons to control the radio.

Any ideas what is going on with the oem one? No chime, no sound and did all of the above already.

Nothing is on the steering wheel on this one. Just cruise etc.

Well I know you said that you replaced the amp, but if I had to pick a culprit, I would think that you were given another bad amp. I know that good ones are very hard and expensive to come by. I have a friend who is a small car dealer and he had to go through 6 amps on 1 Monte before I sold him my extra one that worked.
