Default 02 Monte Aftermarket Speaker Issue.

Recently my stock speakers blew out and i went to get new ones. I bought some hooked them up and they seemed fine. Except for the fact i can only listen to it at a certain volume or else it gets all distorted. The stock speakers i had were great the aftermarkets not so much. I was wondering if it was a wiring issue or i blew 'em or what. Here's the speaker info.

FRONT-Pioneer - 6-1/2" 3-Way Car Speakers with Polypropylene Cones. Up to 220W peak power; 6-1/2" polypropylene cones; 1-5/8" paper cone midrange and 3/8" dome tweeter

BACK - Pioneer - 6" x 9" 3-Way Car Speakers with Polypropylene Cones. Up to 270W peak power; 6" x 9" polypropylene cones; 2-1/4" paper cone midrange and 2/3" dome tweeter

Help is gratefully appreciated

thats strang, i would check your wiring of course. but really this is something i'd have to have access to the car, to hear whats going on, to even know whats happening, it could be a dozen things, could be the deck, could be the stock amp, could be wiring, faulty speakers. one thing that does come to mind. did you wire them up in the right polarity ? if you wire them out of phase they might not play well if their cheap speakers. another thought is your running 3 way, is that passive? are the cross overs properly wired with out mixing up polarities. perhaps some more details of what exactly their doing? also keep in mind, there is nothing easy about 3 way, this is why not many people do it. placment is important.

Are you still using the stock amp... The stock amp runs at 2ohm and those speakers are probably 4 ohm. So the stock amp that has little power to begin with will run at half the power. Im not sure of the exact specs but for example... lets say each channel was 50rms in 2 ohm its going to run 25rms at 4 ohm.. Thats what the problem is because the out put is less.

So you can find 2 ohm speakers, buy an aftermarket amp, or by buying a New Head Unit might work as well
