Default You're gonna love this one...

I was driving down the road today.. and POP. IMMEDIATELY my car sounds like it is running open headers. It sounds great, but I don't need it everytime I drive. So I pulled off in the mall parking lot, and checked it out... now, I can't quite tell until I get it into the shop tomorrow morning, but if I were to guess, I would say the interlock flex busted, or the TOG Donut gasket between the collector and the cat has been blown.

How do I know it's a leak BEFORE the cat? Stick your head under the hood, it smells like open headers (i.e. BEFORE the after effects of combustion goes through the cat..)

I am going outside to take a video right now, even though the sound will SUCK on my digital camera...

I am going to the shop tomorrow morning..

The Good News? It's still driveable, and I know it isn't THAT big of a deal. (Could Be Worse, like a tranny =)

I'll let you all know the update! =)

Okay, here's the clip. Audio sucks, but it's just extremely loud. Also, I MEANT AFTER the combustion, not before, and I meant the after combustion fuel smell, (sometimes I get nervous on camera) as before would mean a Head gasket leak, and I checked, it's definitely coming from where I showed the cam...

Enjoy

Hi Keegan
You posted "You're gonna love this one..." : (
I don't love `it when there's something wrong
with a Monte Carlo.
I sure hope the repair is minor. Hope it's a inexpensive fix.
I'll be look'in forward to your update on the prob.
I tried to open your vid : ( put my old slow puter, just didn't
want to open it : ). I will try to check out the sounds
when I get to a friends with high speed SuperCharged `puter.
Keegan, Good Luck,

The Flex Coupling is the weakest link. My wifes went on her Honda and I put two on my Maxima before having it wrecked by my daughter. They were quite expensive for the Maxima. I hope getting that fixed don't run you into a lot of money!
