I had a really loud noise in my engine area for some time and couldn't figure it out, All my people I know said it was't a serious thing,

Well after taking action for myself, I checked my Steering fluid and it was low and added more steering fluid and solved the problem, My car purrs nicely and no loud whinding noise,

Just wanted to post in case anybody gets this sound check your fluids and top them off.

I am glad it was something that small, It was a very annoying sound.

 

Yup, I had the same sound when I blew a power steering line, it's the pump making the sound. If you run the pump too long without fluid it will really mess up the pump so if anyone happens to blow a line like I did and are going to drive the car to the dealer be careful not to damage the pump if it's still working.

I had some power steering fluid and added it right before heading to the dealer for the repair and I took the straightest route I could so as to not run all the fluid out.

 

Same thing happened to me this past weekend. It sounded like crap, checked the power steering fluid. Bone dry!!!. Who would have thought.

 

Mine made the same sound too....but mine needed a whole new pump. Cover under my GMPP extended warrenty though!
