valve covers

What motor do you have?
FWIW, the valve covers on an L67 are fairly easy to remove - you have to move two brackets out of the way (one is attached to the front head, one on the back). The actual valve cover bolts are simple, you just use a ratchet and either a 10 mm or a 13 mm socket, I can't remember which one.

I forgot about that bracket, but yeah they should just unbolt. Unless your oil passages are stoped up (which allow oil from the valve train to flow back to the oil pan), then you should not really have any oil come out when you remove the valve covers. If there are brackets in the way, move them, they should just bolt to the side of the block or something like that, and unbolt those valve covers and take them off!! The ones on the backside may be a little tricky.

A common mistake everyone makes when you ask them what htey payed in taxes: "Oh, I got money back!" Well, you still payed taxes, but you got a little bit back the next year. You paid alright, you just got tricked into feeling like you're making money!
