The instructions that came with my filter stated to use the sticker to prevent some one from throwing the filter away during a tune up, but mine is just a filter for the air box and it will never will go to a shop for an air filter change.... i guess K&N knew this since the sticker wasnt in the box.....
X2. There is no law regarding noting the filter is aftermarket. Just a sticker that says don't throw it out as it is a lifetime filter.

Coming to think of it, I can't think of a single aftermarket part that "requires" you to put on stickers. I've never seen stickers on any Hot Rods made by Chip Foose or Chuck Boddington. It's typically just a good idea to put the stickers on though.

I can't say about the horsepower, but I drive 100+ miles per day commuting. I had the car 2 weeks and averaged 22.5mpg. I then put on the K&N intake, and now average 24.4-24.7mpg. 44,000miles driven since purchased translates to a savings of 159.5 gallons of premium gas. At $3.00/gal, I've saved over $478 in gas. My K&N has more than paid for itself! Plus I've saved $200! Thanks K&N.

I did not get a CARB sticker, nor do I have any other stickers under the hood, only the K&N logo on the intake.

I do have a custom Lexan clear cover to help with the underhood heat problem. I am about to make another new one for show. The old one was free scuffed material, but works great.

I usually can't hear mine because of the stereo cranking.
