So, questions on air intakes...
Sorry is there is another thread about this already I apologize. I have a 2003 Monte LS, and I had a friend say i should put a cold air intake on it just for kicks. I read alittle on the forum, and I read that short rams dont make a big difference in preformance, due to it sucking the engine's heat cause its not going straight to the bottom of the car.
So the questions are... (and btw, I'm not really good with mechanical jargon, lol)
1. Would it be fine to put the short ram on?
2. Could you run the air intake to the bottom of the Monte?
3. What would be the price? (estimated of course)
Thanks for any replies guys.

Not really. it would make your throttle feel peppier, but it would pull timing and make your car slower.
You could do that, however you need to be careful of putting it too low where it sucks in moisture or can get damage.
Building it yourself? About $50-$75.
Buying a full CAI kit? Around $240
Here's a kit for the LS: Easy Performance - Wizaired Cold Air Induction System #EP-CAI

i was wondering the same thing, my question was i have the 3400 i was going to just make a custom one and shove it down near my driverside wheel well..and so that would be technically a COLD AIR not a short ram...so i would actually recieve power off of that...but since you guys are talking about it picking up heat from the engine..i should probably put a plastic box around it near the areas where the engine (back side of filter bascially) would be **** to get hot air onto my filter..and id be set...would that work?

If you have a way to monitor your Intake Air Temperatures (a lot of gauges can do that) just monitor those. If the temperature gets any more than 5 degrees higher than the outside temp, then you should seal it off.
