Default resonator

What does the resonator do and do I need it because I see a lot people that say they just delete it.

Think of it as a larger muffler. It's just designed to quiet the exhaust and remove some of the rasp from it.

You don't need it... the stock ones have a tendency to rust through anyways, but I wouldn't dump it all together, if you're going for sound, get a glasspack that's about 16-18" and have that popped in instead.

That's what mind did and I wasn't sure if I needed to get it replace plus I would like more sound than what is there. Thanks for the feedback.

I tell people to think of it like a "pre-muffler", does just what Mike 00LS said. I had an issue where I blew baffles in a couple aftermarket replacements. I say ditch the thing, put a pipe in and NEVER look back!! lol!

as stated already it is not needed but without it you will get more of a raspy sounding/louder exhaust. i say delete it or replace with a glass pack your choice.

Resonators work with the muffler to reduce noise, by making sound waves "cancel each other out." If you drive a lot I recommend replacing it not just deleting it. The drone gets annoying after a few minutes. The only gain you get is noise.

It must be how my Monte is, I have no complaints of the exhaust sound. I don't feel it's droning at all, I still have factory mufflers. But I do have a PLOG and ZZP DP with high flow cat..... So I wonder if those make some of the difference.
