Ram air?
Its a k&n cone...the end isnt open on it...i saw some ram air filter kits at auto zone and pep boys but the filters are about 2 inches long...to small for my liking...so i want a bigger one...i may end up rigging something up for it...ill take pics and let you all know if i do
well i got it all done today...swapped the intake over, added a tattoo, and ran some intake cleaner for a fuel system tune...we'll see how it pays off...check out the pics...i ended up using the fog light holes to bring in the air

my old cai did stay really cool though even after a long drive so idk
Its hard to give a single value because you'll have one temperature while sitting there idling (which will go up the longer you sit there as all the heat rises to the top of your engine bay, and as it soaks through your box's heat shielding), and another temperature while you're driving (which should go down the faster you go).
I'd really say though on average, if you're much over 10-20* over ambient with a cold air box, you've probably got a leak or something not insulated very well. I remember going out and scanning a guy who did a WizAir box, and I really don't remember his car getting over ~10-15* over ambient- and thats from just a regular drop in CAI box with no mods.
I know when I had my HAI on my GP, my IAT's were always way over ambient, and only after really picking up speed did they settle down anywhere near decent numbers- but at a stoplight or low speeds, it would get really high.
