Nice metal work!!
One thing that might be a good add on is some type of insulation. Metal transfers heat VERY easily. I saw at my local Home Depot in the insulation isle a bubble wrap insulation material that looks a LOT like what ZZP uses in the Wizaird CAI. Adding that might not be a bad touch (and I don't recall it being expensive, maybe $10 for way more then you need for one CAI)!

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I'm not sure how much i would sell the kit for and what it would include. It isn't too complicated to assemble so that wouldn't be an issue it'd mainly be geting all the extra stuff together like the K&N filter and the intake tube because i had to search for the filter and order the intake tube. But i would probably be able to sell the heat shield box.
The easiest and cheapest way to process and ship it would be to send it over unfolded (the bottom and sides are one piece bent into place). So it would be up to the purchaser to bend the sides up and either use screws (and L brackets) and a sealant for the bend reliefs or you can weld the sides like i did. I could provide step by steps and possibly hardware.
The other possiblity would be for me to make the entire box. This is where i get a little nervouse because what may be "good" quality to me, may only be "ok" quality for you. The only thing i am concerned about here is the welds. I did my best to smooth them out but some still look a little sloppy. I did paint the inside of mine flat black and with the cover on you cannot tell at all, and still looks really good. This can also be covered up with the insulation bubbles that some users were talking about, plus it'd be even cooler air. This way would more expensive as there is more labor on my part and in materials, hardware, ect. This may take a little longer to process since i will have to assemble everything as oppossed to gathering up everything and just shipping it.
Either way as of right now (07/11/11) I'm not selling the kit, because i would need to price things out, but I do intend too if people want it. Depending on orders, I would have to buy the T316 SS, process them, plexiglass, hardware, time, paint blah blah everything i pretty much already mentioned. I will try to build up a list of expenses today at work and see what i can figure out. Keep in mind the K&N filter and intake tube alone were roughly $53 if you wanted that in the package. You can get a spectre filter and your choice of tubing ordered cheaper than that.

Next, if you want to entertain selling a couple, I would use the ZZP Wizaird as a price guide (if it costs way more then this, it may not be worth it:
ZZ Performance
If you can compete with that, give people an option to buy it assembled and with/without a K&N cone.
OH and plenty of pics of the unit finished in and out of the vehicle will help others decide to make an order (they can see the quality).
Just some thoughts. From what I have seen so far, looks real nice. I hope this CAI you're making works out great!! And I hope if you begin selling them that it all pans out well!
Thanks for the link to compare, as far as performance gains, well i can't say that i'll get it dyno tested any time soon, but i certainly can give some reports on mpg once i get some data. the price so far without the tube and filter is looking cheaper than zzp, even with the filter and tube its still cheaper. But keep in mind the zzp one uses a 9" cone and the box takes up way more room in the engine bay, my box is a bit smaller and uses a 7" cone.
I made mine for myself and did not plan on selling it originally, but i just thought if there was a lot of interest i might as well make the community happy
thats all. But i will keep updating.
