I have my 2001 MC LS with a single stock exhaust... im doing what I can to make it a little more "go" as im putting some show on it, so I thought a good exhaust system would help with both... but when it comes to this, Im lost! im doing what I can to read, and Im good with general car maintence, nothing like this though. downpipes? are all mufflers able to really fir on any car? what should I be looking for?
What im kinda looking for is a boost of HP to the wheels if I can while getting the look on the back end of a Dual exhaust (I heard I can just put a Y pipe on...) Im not looking to spend tons on this, so the catback is out (the seem to be $800+). could someone toss me their 2 cents and try to get me up to speed on it?

 

yeah search exhaust on here and ull find that ur best bet is to have a private muffler shop make you a custom set. Flowmaster 44's are what I would get put on. Will run you 400$ max for u-bend delete and the mufflers plus y-pipe. There are already so many posts on this That I don't feel like typing it over

 

yah, your best bet is highflow cat, u-bend delete, resonator delete, then a single in dual out muffler of your choice then 2 tailpipes out the back, that will give you the best flow for your car and a pretty good boost in power from getting rid of that u-bend

 

awesome guys, thanks for the quick response! what kind of mufflers are you guys running? im looking for something with some growl, but I dont want the totally fake/loud sound like im rolling with some HUUUGE engine im not...

 

flowmaster is going to give you the deepest sound...but it has a raspy sound on the 3.8 that i dont like overly much....however they do sound good on the 3.4, the magnaflow isnt quiete as loud and growly, but you dont get the raspy noise as much with it either....i think from the sound of it you will like the flowmasters more...probably flowmaster 40s

 

if you do not want your car to be loud, than I wouldn;t recomend removing the resonator.
