Just bought an 06 SS, and I am new to the monte community...Im looking to see what some good engine/exhaust/intake/etc.. mods are for the 5.3/monte at a relatively low price (shoot me anything tho I may not rule it out) that I can do myself.

lucky, you have the v8, which means better sounding exhaust...im sure someone will jump in with links, theres some good intakes and exhaust setups, i will tell you that it is hard to find parts for the newer vehicles though. you can also find some nice halo headlights with the led tails.

No, if your wanting to do a nice sounding exhaust, I recommend magnaflow or Thrush.

 

For exhaust on the V8, you have options (pretty much anything sounds good on the V8)...I like Magnaflow personally.

For an intake, you want the one from Cold Air Inductions, Inc. Their CAI is the best one made for the 7th gen Monte's, its fully closed/ sealed, UNlike the K&N. Go to www.coldairinductions.com and you will find it!

And you always have the option of building your own CAI instead of spending the hundreds of dollars?

 

Im pretty wrench friendly, and pops is a master mechanic (hes building a chopper as we speak), built transmissions, worked for freightliner, etc... so we have the tools and garage space! lol

Im about to start building a custom box for my trunk and my l5 solobaric, possibly exhaust,intake, and some type of performance programmer....

As far as mileage, options etc... It has 54k on it. and I am not quite sure on the options...I do not know what you can and cannot get to be honest, start listing and il tell ya if I have it lol. I had to get a new car because they totaled my jeep when I got t-boned; the salesman was showing me silverado's, saw the monte, drove it and loved it!! So I went from a jacked up jeep with a 6 inch lift, to a ss monte, but hey im diverse!
