metal tape
ok so I have a 96 monte carlo z34 and i put metal tape on my carb now it sounds a whole lot better than it did but I took the car out for a spin and the tape is so hot that its smoking what should I do? remove the tape? and how much would it cost roughly to replace a carborator?

you have the 5th gen front wheel drive fruelinjection z34 unless some one put some thing in it that shouldent belong of corse youll have problems not to tick you off. 1-4th gens have the carb set up the 3rth and 4th have the throtelslash injectorcarb set up

Actually, no you dont. Do you even know what a carburetor is? A carburetor is a fuel delivery device used on older, non fuel injection vehicles. There should be no corrosion/holes in it or your car would most likely not run at all.
Where exactly is the part you call the "carburetor" that you used metal tape to fix? If we know what it is you put the tape on, we can help and answer your question. Maybe a picture would help?

actually I do. And theres alot of corrosion/holes on it.
Here is a carb:
and here is a carb on top of the engine:
I imagine you're thinking of an exhaust component, since carburetors don't usually rust (most I've seen are aluminum anyways)- and certainly can't work if they rust through. Here's a list of some exhaust parts, maybe you can find one that sounds right?
-exhaust manifolds (the exhaust pieces that bolt to the heads)
-downpipe (the exhaust part that takes the exhaust down the firewall)
-catalytic converter (the first thing in the exhaust line)
-resonator (smaller cylinder about 1/2 way back through the exhaust system)
-mufflers (the larger cylinders at the rear of the exhaust system)
-tips (the parts at the end of the mufflers)

I have a feeling he means the converter. If so, metal tape wont stand a chance. There is no way to repair a converter, only replacement. Cost would be cost of the converter plus probably 50-60 some bucks labor depending on who does it and their labor rate.
