Who else sells a good stainless 2.5" catback then?

There's this but I'm not certain I want the mufflers.

If you don't want a tune, then you can't get a high-flow cat.

no, a catback system starts just behind the cat and goes to the tips, a dp replaces the cat.

So I don't want a full catback system, I want a downpipe + some other bits. right?

I don't know if it's pipe routing, muffler hanger location or what the difference is but Magnaflow shows a different part number (16729) for the Monte Carlo versus the Grand Prix (16731) cat back you linked to.

If you go with headers you want to stay around 1 5/8" primary tube diameter with an N/A engine. The 1 3/4" primary tubes are for SC engines and if used on an N/A engine will shift the power band up the rpm scale. As a result you'll lose some bottom end power.

My suggestion:

Pacesetter headers with 1 5/8" primary tubes
Magnaflow downpipe
Magnaflow glasspack to replace resonator
OE mufflers
Tips of your choice

When I installed the Magnaflow downpipe I was prepared to deal with the dreaded P0420 code, but it has been on the car for about 2 years now and I have NOT had the code pop up yet - and I did NOT have it deleted when my PCM was reprogrammed. In fact, the only individuals I'm aware of that have had problems with the code popping up are those that installed a ZZP downpipe. Just a little food for thought...

I'm currently throwing the code 0420 and I'm contemplating cat replacement and a new O2 sensor.
If i get the OE Magnaflow Replacement withOUT the U bend in the pipe am I going to have issues with this code? I'm looking at TheManiac's PCM service but I'm not really looking for a tune, I would like to have my Monte Emissions compliant as it is my daily driver
I've been searching the forums all week and not having much luck... Suggestions?

EDIT: I'm kind of a newb to the exhaust game, I'm not really sure what is considered a high flow cat or not. The part i'm looking at has no mention of high flow

If you get that pipe you MIGHT throw a code, although you also might not because it's not a full high-flow cat.

IF you get the code, and you need the tune, it's not bad. You would still be emissions compliant. The PCM just "forgets" the P0420 code and will never throw a CEL because of that code. When they plug into a computer it will throw no faults and you'll pass.
