Looking to Delete Cat or Mufflers
Hey folks, I recently installed a Magnaflow catback system on my 2006 Monte SS. I'm still in the process of fixing the leaks, but I'm fairly happy with it. Except for one thing...
...It isn't loud enough. So I'm looking to delete parts of it.
DELETING THE CAT:
-PROS
Supposed to be a dramatic volume difference
Would also help performance
-CONS
Bolts into the manifold, which I really don't want to deal with. Looks hard
Illegal
DELETING THE MUFFLERS:
-PROS
Gets rid of the muffles
Probably easy to find replacement stainless pipes fairly easily
Cheaper
-CONS
Might ruin the deep tone of the exhaust
Nothing for performance
If anything goes slightly wrong my tailpipes are gonna be outta whack, and then I'll have to adjust the whole exhaust, fix leaks, etc.
Do any of you have experience doing this sort of thing? What sort of sound changes happened?
(I've also considered getting rid of the resonator, but that's got the flange on it and I would prefer not to search for custom pipes with that)
