More updates!
I polished the butterfly plate (and sharpened the edges, not to a fine point, but just to give them a better edge for air to flow against. I reseated it into the T-Body. The bolts used to hold the plate in stuck out on the other side. I grinded them to be flush.
I also took the throttle linkage and springs, used a wire wheel on them and I am currently re-painting them (satin black). Helps restore a new look.
I am currently planning to paint the exterior of the t-body satin black and the bracket used to hold the throttle cables red (not 100% sure on the red).

I'm getting there with this. Weather is turning (so it's getting tough to want to play with paint outside). But I am thinking of re-painting the throttle cable bracket red (still on the fence, keeping it black is my other thought) and the throttle body black.
To add a little "custom" flare, I was thinking adding "Maniac SS" to the top of the throttle cable bracket.
If I am correct, what I should be accomplishing here is similiar to a Stage 2 High Velocity Throttle Body from ZZP (just takes more time then ordering one, but requires less out of pocket).
So far, I've enjoyed literally crafting something myself to performance mod my Monte. Again, spring time is when I plan to bolt this sucker on as I'll also be adding additional mods at that time.

I am finally to the phase of painting the actual T-body. I masked off the openings, vacuum line connection, some studs that stick out and painted away (black with satin finish). This is the first coat (takes a few coats to get complete coverage). I'm currently on coat #3 (no pics of coats 2 or 3)....

Painting is COMPLETE! I have about 3 coats of satin black. It's not 3 full coats (more like 2 full coats if you count the spraying for touch up).
I don't have pics yet of the throttle cable bracket, but I sanded it down and put the first coat of flat black on it. Hopefully early to mid this week, I will get my custom decal for it..... Once the black is done, I will stick a red deal on it and coat the entire thing in satin clear coat.
After that, it's RE-ASSEMBLY time.....
Sadly, it looks like this mod will be done right as I park the Monte for winter. But, I'm not worried. Come spring, I have a BUNCH of mods to apply and this should go VERY nicely with them....

Tonight, I reached a decision. My donor L67 T-body came with an IAC and TPS. These were used on the '97 Buick I pulled this from. I compared and confirmed, these are identical part numbers to the ones on my Monte now. The MAF would be the only piece that bolts on to this that was different (and well, this T-Body didn't have one when I pulled it, so I am forced to re-use my factory one, no big deal, that modification has been addressed).
I decided I will re-use the units from the donor t-body. With that being said, the IAC needs some TLC. Even the one on my Monte now is not perfect looking. I used the sanding drums and a couple other Dremel attachments, and cleaned the IAC to bare metal (except on a couple surfaces).
Now, after the fact, I think I committed a painting no-no and did not use a primer on the metal. But since I am leaving the metal with a slight "brushed" look, it appears the paint is adhering fine with no issues. Maybe it's also because I'm using black paint. If I find it does not hold up to the test of time, I can re-visit this item.

As I am making my home stretch to finally be able to re-assemble the T-body, the last thing for me to do is re-finish the bracket that holds the Throttle Cables.
I sanded it down to bare metal and painted it flat black. I then ordered a custom decal to help "personallize" this T-body. I inquired with a lot of companies and the I got the best response, pricing and assistance from Tish at www.kartattooz.com.
I applied the decal this morning and now I am clear coating the entire thing with a satin finish clear coat. Once done, it's re-assembly time!!

This weekend, I began re-assembly of this Throttle Body. OH and it looks magnificent! I have to remedy one hole that stripped out (the old screw had to be drilled and tapped, well, it did not hold). Been there/done that. I used JB Weld to fill the hole and will re-tap it (had to do that once already and that worked PERFECTLY). Once it is ALL back together, I will post completed pics.
My Monte has been parked/covered for the winter. So this mod will definately NOT go on until next spring (with a bunch of other mods).
Also, while at the junk yard this weekend, I picked up a '99 lower intake. Next mod to add to my list is a port matched intake (so it flows better to the heads).
