Ok just bought a CAI from CAI lol. (ok not funny) but I was looking at steel hoods and my plan is to find one i can make work functional with the CAI. I know MPD has a hood but its way to pricey, and IMO not to easy on the eyes with those front end points.

thanks for all comments and suggestions in advanced

IMO its more hassle than its worth- with a real cold air box, you're getting practically ambient air anyways, so the only benefit will be the 'ram air' effect, which is minimal at normal street speeds anyways.

why mess with metal, fibreglass is so easy to work with and can take any shape you want

Because fiberglass on a metal hood doesn't work well. I've seen a lot of cracked hood scoops and such on montes.

Oh, 46 1/2 long, I was like wait wtf...

How are you going to integrate one of those cowl hoods in with your CAI though?

Also, not sure what year car you have- but if you've got a 5th gen monte, they have a dominator 3" cowl hood that bolts right on.

your CAI box will pull more than enough air in, no need to go for a hood that won't really put much air into the box.
